Retail Tuesday: Deep freeze edition

Yes, I know it’s Wednesday, but whatever. I blame the Polar Vortex. As evidenced by the dozens upon dozens of dashboard thermometer photos on your Facebook news feed, and I don’t know, actually walking outside, it’s COLD. Not, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” cold, but uncomfortably, painfully, I’m pretty sure I have frostbite cold. With weather like this, the #1 best place you can be is snuggled up in front of a fireplace and reading your book. Reality finds me in my freezing cold cubicle with fingerless gloves and a snuggie trying to keep warm and earn a paycheck, but a girl can dream. With that in mind, I thought I’d share some cozy swag this week. Keep warm, everybody.

Out of Print Clothing

I’ve been a long time lurker on Out of Print. They have a lot of great literary gear–and they should since their mission statement says they “celebrate the world’s great stories through fashion.” I’d like to celebrate getting warm in one of these fleece sweatshirts. Just sayin.

Game of Thrones Blanket

Shop the TV

The Starks were right. Winter is here. So I’d like to get my hands on one of these fleece blankets featuring house sigils. I’ve only seen Stark and Targaryen, but if you looked hard enough you could probably find the others. I predict a lot of accidental naps under that bad boy. Check out what else Shop the TV has in your other favorite shows. Doctor Who or Downton Abbey anyone? Yeah, I’m a sucker for British programming.

First LinesThe Unemployed Philosophers Guild

I’m not a big fan of hot beverages, but I’ll heat up something just to hold in weather like this! I found this mug featuring opening lines of some of the greatest works of literature over at The Unemployed Philosophers Guild. It would definitely do the trick!

Retail Tuesday: Novel-T

NovelT

This week’s Retail Tuesday is brought to you by my Pinterest boards (I pinned some of these so long ago and completely forgot about them) and a brand name that is SUPER clever: Novel-T. Genius.

“Jerseys are a great way to show support for your heroes–if your heroes happen to be athletes. But what if your heroes are found in the bookstore instead of the ballpark?

Novel-T offers an opportunity to express your support for the all-stars of literature. For those who feel a connection to certain writers or characters–be it Walt Whitman’s expansive exultations, Huck Finn’s mischievous morality, Kurt Vonnegut’s humorous humanism, or Bartleby’s seemingly inscrutable insubordination–these super-soft, slim-fit jersey-style tees are a winning way to wear what you read.”

I’m in. Do you think they’ll custom make a tee? I’m thinking they’re severely lacking in the Tolkien department. But I am also feeling Gatsby and Quixote… the great and the dreamer.
